Rossendale Petitions Scheme.

Rossendale Borough Council has adopted a scheme for the Duty to Respond to Petitions as required by the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009.

The Petitions Scheme is based on the Rossendale population of 67,000.  A copy of the full Petitions Scheme can be found here:

Rossendale Borough Council welcomes petitions and recognises that petitions are one way in which people can let us know their concerns.  All petitions sent or presented to the Council will receive an acknowledgement within 10 working days of receipt.  This acknowledgement will set out what the Council plan to do with the petition. 

E-Petitions

E-petitions can be created and submitted via this website.  E-petitions are subject to the same guidelines as paper petitions.  The petition organiser must decide on the length that the petition is to be kept open for.  Most petitions run for six months.

It may take up to 5 working days to publish an e-petition online.  This is because the Council must check that the content of the petition is suitable before it is made available for signature.
